Multiculturalism and Settlement Services:
St. Lawrence Rideau Immigration Partnership:
- Located at the Employment and Education Centre on Strowger Boulevard. Learn more on the Partnership website.
- Brings together organizations and individuals dedicated to assisting newcomers to Canada to become involved, contributing members of this area's communities.
- The website and a Newcomers' Welcome Kit provide links to information and resources relevant to recent immigrants, including municipal-specific settlement information and links to federal and provincial immigration websites.
UCDSB through TR Leger
Language Services:
TR Leger ESL classes are free classes offered at various levels. Our enthusiastic professional staff will help learners to speak, write, listen and read well in English. Classes are available at the Brockville location Monday through Thursday.

- ESL classes are free to Permanent Residents, Provincial Nominees, Canadian Citizens and Refugee Claimants.
- Clients must be 18 years old at time of registration and fall into one of the above categories.
Settlement Services:
- TR Leger provides services free to Permanent Residents, Canadian Citizens, Refugee Claimants, with limited services to Provincial Nominees.
- Receive help or find information regarding housing, employment, education, health, transportation, community, and government services, etc.
- Receive help with Permanent Resident card renewal or citizenship applications
- Speak with a Settlement Worker regarding immigration or settlement questions
- Speak to a Settlement Worker in School
- Receive referral services
- Use the computer, internet and phone for online applications, status updates, and or online payments for applications
- Find out about community resources
- Access information on Canadian citizenship
- Receive multilingual information for newcomers to Canada
- Access Canada Connects
- Informal Language (Conversation Circles) when enough interest is generated
Settlement Workers in School (SWIS) Program:
Through the SWIS program, newcomer families can meet with a Settlement Worker in their child’s school and receive any needed settlement services. The SWIS worker is also able to assist in communication between the school staff and the clients. SWIS worker may work with an entire family or with the students directly. Newcomers or school staff may contact the SWIS worker for assistance.

Brockville and District Multicultural Council:
The Brockville and District Multicultural Council is an umbrella organization for ethno-cultural groups. The group produces the annual Multicultural Festival which connects people from various backgrounds for good food, entertainment and goodwill. The council also provides settlement counselling and community get-togethers. Translation and interpretation services in Chinese, Mandarin, French, Greek, German, English, Hungarian, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish and Turkish are available.
