Electrical power is produced by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and sold at wholesale rates to the Public Utilities Commissions of the Area Municipalities, which then distribute it to urban consumers at retail rates.

• Special rates are available for large industrial users.
• Weekends and holidays are off-peak and the cheapest price during both the winter and summer periods.
• Two peak seasons: Summer and winter weekdays - In summer, electricity use peaks during the hottest part of the afternoon (noon to 5 p.m.). In winter, less daylight means electricity use peaks twice (7-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m.)

Natural gas, originating in western Canada and transported via Trans Canada Pipe Lines Limited, is in plentiful supply and is distributed to homes and industries in the region by Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc.

• The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) approved a change in rates and services available to large volume (commercial) and residential gas customers effective October 1, 2017. These rates are approved on an interim basis.
• Residential customers will have a 5% drop in their annual bill
• For a commercial and industrial heating customer, the changes will result in a decrease of approximately 7% annually.
• The decrease is primarily due to lower natural gas prices in North America. 
• Supply prices are based on a forecast of market prices for the next 12 months. The forecasted prices are reviewed every three months and adjusted accordingly.

Gas Supply Charge

• The Gas Supply Charge has decreased from 12.0857 cents per cubic metre ("¢/m³") to 9.8473 ¢/m³.
• The Gas Supply component of the Cost Adjustment is currently a charge of 0.7269 ¢/m³. This charge, combined with the Gas Supply Charge results in a new total effective Gas Supply rate of 10.5742 ¢/m³.

Groundwater is the major source of potable water for residents.

• Approximately 67% of the residents are serviced by groundwater.
• 92% are supplied from non-municipal private systems
• Approximately 21,000 water wells in the United Counties
• The separated municipalities of Brockville, Gananoque and Prescott have both municipal piped water from the St. Lawrence River and waste water treatment plants
• The village of Spencerville has sewage collection and treatment via lagoons
• The village of Cardinal has both water and sewage treatment via Cardinal Waste Water & Water Filtration Plant
• The Johnstown Industrial Park and New Wexford are serviced by Edwardsburgh Cardinal and sourced by Town of Prescott Public Works Department
• A new waste water treatment plant is under construction in the Village of Westport
